1. Introduction

    Journal of Brain and Spine (JBS, ISSN 3079-7802) is an open-access international English-language journal sponsored by Sun Yat-sen University and undertaken by the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. It was launched in 2025. The Editor-in-Chief is Professor Rong Limin, chief scientist of a National Key Research and Development Program project and president of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. The Co-Editors-in-Chief are Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences: Professor Kwok-Fai So (Jinan University), Professor Xiongli Yang (Fudan University), and Professor Yizheng Wang (Huashan Hospital, Fudan University).

    The journal aligns with the national "Brain Science and Brain-Like Intelligence Research" initiative (China Brain Project). It has been selected as a High-starting Point New Journal of Excellence Action Plan for China STM Journals and a High Starting Point New English Journal Launch Project of Guangdong Province (Granted 2 million RMB) in 2025. JBS focuses on the frontiers of brain and spine science, features the intersection of medicine and engineering as well as multidisciplinary integration, and is committed to establishing a high-end academic exchange platform, promoting basic research, clinical translation, and technological innovation, thereby serving the goal of building a strong science and technology nation.

2. Information for Youth Editorial Board Members

    In November 2025, the journal officially appointed 42 outstanding scholars as the inaugural Youth Editorial Board Members of JBS. In March 2026, JBS successfully held Journal Development Forum, which attracted widespread attention among young scholars in the field. To further promote academic exchange and strengthen the reserve force of the editorial board, we now launch the recruitment for the second batch of Youth Editorial Board Members. Excellent early-career scholars from both domestic and international institutions are cordially invited to join us in supporting the high-quality development of JBS!

Application Requirements

    Under 45 years of age, with a doctoral degree or associate senior professional title or above.
    Engaged in basic or clinical research in the brain and spine field; has hosted or participated in relevant research projects or grants.
    Has published at least 3 SCI papers as first author or corresponding author in the last 5 years.
    Those with certain academic influence, overseas study experience and review experience for international SCI journals are preferred.
    Willing to actively participate in peer review, article solicitation, journal promotion, and contribute to the development of the journal.

Responsibilities of Youth Editorial Board Members

    Article Solicitation: Contribute or solicit at least one high-quality manuscript to the journal within the term of service (3 years).
    Peer Review: Participate in the review process, provide detailed comments, or recommend qualified reviewers in the same field.
    Journal Promotion: Promote the journal at domestic and international academic conferences and on social media platforms; actively participate in writing original articles for the journal's WeChat public account, translating selected articles, and drafting reports on international scientific news media coverage.
    Academic Activities: Actively assist in and participate in academic exchange events organized by the journal, and plan and organize relevant academic conferences.
